Inspections & ITPs
Inspection and test plans, recorded where the work is
Every acceptance criterion written out rather than referenced from memory. Record pass, fail or not applicable against each line, with a photograph, and the register keeps count of what is still to record and what came back failed.

PDFTwo libraries
Both kinds of paperwork, in one place
Inspection and test plans
One per work package: the activity, the requirement, the verifying document, the acceptance criteria, the type of check, who records it and who accepts it.
Trade check sheets
The sheets your subcontractors already sign — first fix, second fix, plaster, tiling, decoration — with every line written out rather than a heading and a box.
Your own
Edit any line, add an activity, or build a plan from scratch. The library is yours once the project is yours.
On the floor
A result against every line, not a signature on a cover sheet
Pass, fail or not applicable — and why
Each line carries its requirement, its verifying document and its acceptance criteria, written out where you are standing. Record the result with a comment, a measurement or a certificate reference, and a photograph if you took one.
ITP-03 — Substructure & Ground Floor Slab
PDFA failure becomes a non-conformance in one step
Not a note in a comment box. It carries a disposition, a root cause and a verified close-out, so the same mistake stops repeating on the next floor.

Inspections
OpenRecorded where the work is
Every inspection is pinned on the drawing, in the place it was carried out — so a year later somebody can see not just that it was checked, but where.

Witness, inspection, surveillance, audit
Four point types, each meaning something different
A witness point is observed by a nominated party, and the work may proceed if they do not attend. An inspection is a detailed examination of the completed item, surveillance is a periodic review of an aspect of the work, and an audit is a formal verification, usually of off-site manufacture. Mixing them up is how a job ends up either paralysed or unchecked.
- Every activity carries its requirement, verifying document and acceptance criteria
- Inspections with a failed item are flagged on the dashboard and on the inspection tab
- Every result carries the inspector, the date and a photograph if you took one
- A failed line escalates to a non-conformance in one step
- Acceptance criteria cite the BS 8000 workmanship series and the statutory standards
FAQ
Straight answers
What is an ITP?
An inspection and test plan sets out, for one work package, what is checked, against which requirement and verifying document, what the acceptance criteria are, and what type of check it is — hold, witness, inspection, surveillance or audit. It is the document that says the work was built to the specification and not just that somebody looked at it.
What are witness, inspection, surveillance and audit points?
They say what kind of check an activity is. A witness point is observed by a nominated party and the work may proceed if they do not attend; an inspection is a detailed examination of the completed item; surveillance is a periodic review of an aspect of the work; an audit is a formal verification, typically of off-site manufacture.
Are the plans included?
Fifteen inspection and test plans and sixteen trade check sheets come loaded, covering groundworks through to external works. Acceptance criteria reference the BS 8000 workmanship series and the relevant statutory standards. You can edit any of them, or add your own.
What happens to a failed item?
Record it as failed with a photograph and a comment, then raise a non-conformance against it in one step, so the failure carries a disposition, a root cause and a verified close-out rather than disappearing into a comment box.
